Best Restaurants in Dunedin
1. Pisces Sushi
I cannot stress enough how necessary it is to have Pisces Sushi on your list of restaurants in Dunedin to check out! This place serves some of the most mind-blowing sushi you’ll ever experience. If you’ve ever been on the fence about sushi, this spot will definitely change your mind.
The dishes and rolls are inspired by global cuisine, so this is so not your typical sushi place. We got the Aloha Broha and Mofongo Bongo. The Aloha Broha was a Hawaiian-inspired roll that consisted of coconut shrimp, avocado, and cream cheese, topped with spicy tuna, coconut aioli, mango vinaigrette, kaji pepper, pineapple, coconut flakes, and scallion.
The Mofongo Bongo was a Cuban-inspired roll that contained sweet plantain, cucumber topped with avocado, chipotle, chimichurri, black bean and corn salsa, and plantain chips— so even if you don’t like seafood, they have several rolls for you.
Each roll is also made to order and they let you know that you can customize each roll however you’d like!
2. The Restorative
Looking for a unique dining experience in Dunedin? The Restorative is a must-visit hidden gem! Nestled in an unassuming strip mall, this intimate spot is known for its rotating menu, fresh ingredients, and bold flavor pairings. With creative chefs crafting dishes like homemade naan bread and beef tartare (when available), every bite is an adventure.
Reservations are essential, so plan ahead to snag a table or a seat at the bar for a front-row view of the culinary magic. Perfect for your next cozy date night!
3. The Dunedin Smokehouse
If you’re craving BBQ, The Dunedin Smokehouse should be at the top of your list. Their brisket is tender, lean, and packed with flavor—perfectly balancing moisture and texture.
Beyond the BBQ, they shine with scratch-made sides, from classics like baked beans and potato salad to unique takes like sweet potato cornbread and granny apple coleslaw. With a menu that also includes wraps, burgers, and salads, there’s something for everyone, but trust me, the BBQ is hard to resist!
4. Casa Tina
Casa Tina is a Dunedin favorite for “fresh, healthy, authentic Mexican food,” and it lives up to the hype! Truly, it was one of the most recommended restaurants in Dunedin when I was asking locals where to go!
Their popular enchilada en salsa roja was my first enchilada experience, and it certainly set the bar high. If you’re on a foodie tour, you can grab a single enchilada a la carte—perfect for sampling!
The margaritas are just as raved about, with balanced flavors and smooth tequila (bonus: their mezcal drinks are fantastic too). With colorful decor, vegetarian and vegan-friendly options, and a welcoming vibe, Casa Tina truly embodies the best of Dunedin dining!
5. The HopScotch Cafe
HopScotch Cafe is a charming hidden gem among Dunedin restaurants. This cozy spot offers travel-inspired sandwiches, charcuterie, beer, and wine, making it a must-visit for casual bites and drinks.
Their Cuban sandwich, made with La Segunda Cuban Bread, is a standout (it’s one of the best Cubans in Tampa Bay!)—big enough to share but so delicious you might regret splitting it!
The menu’s creative categories like Americana, Caribbean Inspired, and Old World(ish) bring a unique flair, and their local beer selection complements the food perfectly. Bonus: it’s right next door to one of the best breweries in Dunedin 🙂
6. Bon Appétit Restaurant
Bon Appétit Restaurant in Dunedin is a seafood lover’s paradise with stunning waterfront views, especially at sunset. You can relax on their outdoor dock, illuminated by blue lights after dusk, or enjoy the elegant indoor dining room.
Start with the French onion soup or the chilled ahi tuna, both highly recommended for their flavor and freshness. For entrees, their three-course specials are an awesome deal, featuring a variety of dishes and ending with dessert (it ranges from $30-35). Pair your meal with the refreshing Watermelon East Side or explore their extensive martini menu!
7. Crown and Bull
Crown and Bull is a Dunedin restaurant perfect for any time of day! Start your morning with their crabcake benedict, a local favorite with flavorful lump crab and perfect hollandaise. Pair it with a Bloody Mary that’s light, refreshing, and garnished with bleu cheese-stuffed olives.
At night, the outdoor patio is a cozy vibe, with string lights and a stunning oak tree centerpiece. Don’t miss their signature martinis—like the All Razzed Up—perfectly crafted to end your day on a high note.
8. The Living Room
The Living Room lives up to its glowing reputation! With dishes inspired by global cuisine and plated to perfection, this spot offers a unique culinary experience. The upscale yet relaxed ambiance is elevated by live entertainment from Thursday to Sunday.
Servers are attentive and happy to guide you through their diverse menu. The beef bulgogi wraps were a surprising favorite, and the cocktail list is just as impressive, ensuring the perfect pairing for your meal. A visit here is bound to exceed expectations!
9. Caracara
Caracara is a must-visit spot for incredible Asian tapas, tacos, and rice bowls. Highlights from our visit were the lump crab nachos, short rib quesadilla (served on pita bread!), and tempura-fried green beans. Their innovative flavors left us raving long after our meal!
They also do an excellent job of catering to those with special diets (gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan). Don’t miss their weekend bar, The Nest, a speakeasy-style lounge perfect for unwinding with friends.
This spot is also located right next door to one of my favorite Dunedin coffee shops, Dunedin Coffee Company.
10. Clear Sky Draught Haus
You will find Clear Sky bustling even on a Monday evening! But don’t worry, the service is excellent and speedy. Seriously, I felt like our food was done in record time!
This Dunedin restaurant is known for its extensive chef-driven gastropub menu that features everything from burgers and seafood to Asian-inspired dishes. If you’re worried they’re doing too many things, and the food may be mediocre, let me assure you that is not at all the case. Highlights include risotto brisket balls and sesame chicken.
They offer an impressive cocktail and beer selection (37 craft beers on tap), along with a bloody mary bar on weekends. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Clear Sky is a fan favorite for locals and visitors.
This place is so good their other location also made it on my list of best restaurants in Clearwater Beach, as well as top breakfast spots in Clearwater Beach.
11. HEW Parlor & Chophouse
HEW Parlor & Chophouse, located inside The Fenway Hotel in Dunedin, offers an exceptional dining experience with al fresco seating by the pool or on the veranda. With a menu featuring seasonal dishes and a fine selection of whiskies (inspired by Dunedin’s Scottish heritage), the atmosphere is perfect for any occasion. Try their unique Wagyu beef roll and fried green tomato “Cuban,” or indulge in perfectly cooked scallops and filet.
The HEW Parlor & Chophouse is open every day of the week for brunch and Wednesday through Sunday for dinner.
