When it comes to can’t-miss restaurants on Anna Maria Island, The Waterfront Restaurant is one of those spots that will instantly be a favorite! Nestled right near the water, this place nails it with fresh seafood and a cozy, welcoming vibe that keeps me coming back.
Their tuna, calamari, and shrimp and grits are all solid dishes—I’m talking dishes that you’ll be dreaming about long after you leave. Honestly, I’m on a mission to try everything on the menu, and so far, it’s been nothing but hits! Whether it’s your first visit or your fifth, The Waterfront feels like a staple you just can’t skip.
2. Pizza Social
Not to be dramatic, but Pizza Social proves that pizza isn’t just food—it’s an art form. Pizza might seem simple, but finding a spot that gets it this right? Rare. This place brings it with their daily-made dough and tomato sauce, hand-stretched thin crusts, and mozzarella that’s freshly shredded in-house.
The real magic happens in their imported 700-degree Italian oven, where each pizza is fired to perfection. The result is a slice (or three) that tastes like a deliciously fitting reward after a long and enjoyable day at the beach!
3. The Donut Experiment
The Donut Experiment isn’t just about eating donuts—it’s about creating them. You start with a fresh, warm donut as your canvas and go wild with glazes, toppings, and drizzles until you’ve built your perfect treat.
Maybe adding a donut place to a list of top restaurants in Anna Maria Island is excessive, but honestly, these aren’t your average donuts. The first bite literally stopped me in my tracks—fluffy, sweet, and just so satisfying. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, this place is a non-negotiable stop while you’re on Anna Maria Island.
4. The SandBar Restaurant
The SandBar Restaurant is a beachfront spot that perfectly captures the relaxed charm of Anna Maria Island. It has great views with refreshing drinks and light bites. Sip on a mango piña colada with your toes in the sand and the sound of waves crashing nearby.
We love keeping it simple here—usually grabbing a drink and sharing something small, like their fresh, zesty ceviche. Whether you’re here for a quick snack or just soaking in the sunset vibes, The Sandbar Restaurant will make you feel like you’re on vacation, even if you’re a local!
5. Harry’s Grill
If you’re looking for a chill, casual spot that feels like a local hangout, Harry’s Grill may be the move. Along with great food, they have live music, a nice patio area, and a vibe that screams “island life.”
Their nachos and onion rings are game-changers. But they don’t stop there—they’ve got everything from juicy steaks to fresh seafood, so there’s something for whatever you’re craving.
And if you’re around on a Sunday morning, you’ve got to check out their Hallelujah Brunch (10–11:30 AM). A free home-cooked breakfast with worship music and a positive message. It’s the perfect way to kick off your week with good vibes!
6. The Doctor’s Office
The Doctor’s Office is hands down one of the coolest spots on Anna Maria Island. Don’t let the name fool you—this isn’t where you go for a check-up, unless it’s for your craft cocktail cravings. The vibe here is trendy and intimate, making it the perfect place for a unique night out.
Their menu is filled with bold, creative flavors, but the Anna Marribbean Grouper steals the show. It’s grouper encrusted with coconut and cashews, topped with red pepper papaya jam—it’s a dish that practically transports you to the Caribbean.
And, of course, their cocktails, which are an art form in themselves. From the impressive drink menu to the welcoming shot you get upon arrival, The Doctor’s Office knows how to make an impression.
This spot can get busy, so be sure to book your “appointment” in advance!
7. Wicked Cantina
If you’re craving a Mexican food fix with a side of tropical vibes, Wicked Cantina has you covered. Located just a quick 10-minute drive from Anna Maria Island on Bradenton Beach, this spot serves up bold, authentic flavors. Don’t judge, but their taco salad is my personal favorite—fresh, flavorful, and just the right amount of satisfying.
And let’s talk margaritas—they’re everything you’d hope. They even have plenty of mezcal options to keep things interesting (and mezcal is always my go-to!). They also have locations in Sarasota and St. Pete!
8. The Porch Restaurant
The Porch Restaurant is a scratch kitchen that takes quality ingredients and transforms them into masterpieces. Their Harvest Salad is light, fresh, and packed with flavor, while the Ribeye Sandwich is hearty and indulgent in the best way.
This spot perfectly captures the island’s love for fresh, local ingredients and thoughtful preparation. This was one of our most recent AMI restaurant discoveries, and we’ve really been missing out!
9. North Shore Cafe
North Shore Cafe is one of my all-time favorite coffee shops on Anna Maria Island! It offers an adorable and enchanting outdoor setting and a nice little variety of offerings. This charming cafe is the perfect sanctuary to enjoy a freshly brewed cup of coffee, a yummy acai bowl, or one of their other bites.

10. Smoqe House
Before you even walk into Smoqe House, the smoky, savory smell hits you, and you know you’re in for something good. This spot nails barbecue with flavors that are bold, rich, and downright addictive.
Whether you’re swinging by for a quick bite or settling in to savor every last rib, Smoqe House has that perfect mix of incredible food and chill island vibes!
