Alright, St. Pete foodies, get ready to dig in because we’re diving into the best restaurants in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida! This city’s food scene is next level, and I’ve spent years eating my way through it (tough job, but someone’s gotta do it).
I’ve lived in Tampa Bay since 2017, and one of my favorite things to do is explore different neighborhoods and all the amazing food spots they have to offer! From laid-back brunch spots to top-tier sushi and everything in between, downtown St. Pete has something to cure every craving. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, each of these downtown St. Pete restaurants are definitely worth checking out!
Best Restaurants in Downtown St. Petersburg, Florida
1. Il Ritorno
Il Ritorno is one of those places that just gets it right. The vibe is a cool mix of rustic and modern, and the food is next level! It’s Italian with a creative twist that makes every dish stand out.
We started with the octopus, which was insanely tender and packed with flavor. But the real surprise of the night was the Taleggio Agnolotti. I probably wouldn’t have picked it on my own, but our server recommended it, and I’m so glad we listened. Crispy lamb belly, charred leeks, and chive oil all came together in the best way. Easily one of the most memorable dishes I’ve had in St. Pete!
2. Jay Luigi
Jay Luigi is another amazing Italian restaurant in downtown St. Pete! It’s the kind of spot that serves up incredible Italian food in a totally chill setting. You don’t need to dress up, but it still feels a little more special than your average spot.
The menu is all about high-quality ingredients, from their hand-rolled pastas to Roman and Neapolitan-style pizzas. We went for the “Mary” pizza—mozzarella, ricotta, meatballs, caramelized onion, and parmesan. It was incredible.
And then there was the “Don’t Kale My Vibe” salad, which honestly took me by surprise. It was a game-changer and definitely made me want to go back for more! It’s one of my favorite salads in Tampa Bay. If you’re in St. Pete, this place is worth checking out.
3. Fresco’s Waterfront Bistro
Fresco’s is one of those restaurants in downtown St. Pete where you’re guaranteed a good time. The menu has a ton of options, so I’m always trying something new and have yet to be let down!
But if you haven’t tried their blackened grouper or Ahi tuna, you’re missing out! They’re my top picks, and they never disappoint. And whatever you do, don’t skip their lobster bisque—it’s light yet super rich in flavor, and the perfect way to start your meal.
What makes Fresco’s even better is its gorgeous waterfront views. It’s the perfect spot for lunch or catching a sunset dinner with a cocktail in hand!
4. Allelo
For a Mediterranean-Aegean dining experience with a little flair, Allelo is where you want to be! The vibe is stylish and the food is amazing. From expertly crafted cocktails to a killer selection of wines by the glass, everything on the menu is made to impress!
Allelo was my total obsession when they first opened—I couldn’t get enough! They always have cool events happening, so definitely keep an eye on their calendar. It’s one of those spots I take out-of-town guests to when we’re having a fun, upscale day in St. Pete, along with their sister restaurant, Juno & The Peacock (which you’ll hear about later). Both are perfect for a memorable meal and a great time.
A few of my go-to dishes from their menu are the oysters, the pork chop, and honestly, any of their pastas—extra truffle, of course!
5. The Lure
When you’re in the mood for sushi, head straight to The Lure. It’s got a laid-back vibe with a pool table if you’re feeling extra casual, but the sushi is what really draws me back.
The Vesuvius roll is something you just have to try for yourself. It’s packed with crab, cucumber, cream cheese, and topped with avocado, baked dynamite, eel sauce, and spicy mayo. Trust me, it’s everything. And if you want to switch it up, they’ve got tapas and some seriously fun international dishes too. It’s totally one of my favorite Sushi restaurants in downtown St. Pete and a must-try if you’re in the area!
6. Red Mesa Mercado
If you need something quick but still so good, Red Mesa Mercado has you covered! It’s fast-casual, so you order at the window, then grab a seat in their shaded outdoor area and wait for the magic to happen.
Their taco salad is my go-to—it’s piled high and topped with this chipotle Caesar dressing that has just the right amount of kick. And if you’re in the mood for a drink, they always have a seasonal sangria that never misses! Whether you’re fueling up for a day downtown or just need a solid meal without the wait, this spot always hits.
If you do enjoy good Mexican food, you also need to check out Casa Tina’s in Dunedin!
7. In Between Days
In Between Days might just be one of the most mysterious and unique restaurants in downtown St. Pete. You won’t find any spoilers about the vibe, food, or cocktails on their socials, which only adds to the intrigue.
What I can tell you is that it’s a Tokyo-style listening bar and craft sake house that’s worth checking out. The menu’s been updated since my last visit (definitely need to go back), but everything I had was packed with flavor. And the sake cocktails? Total game-changer.
I’m keeping it a bit mysterious, so you’ll just have to trust me and visit and see for yourself!
If you enjoy mystery and secrecy, be sure to check out some of St. Pete’s fun speakeasies as well!
8. Lolita’s Wine Market
Lolita’s Wine Market had me HOOKED from the moment I walked in! It’s cozy and full of charm, with colorful decor and service that’s top-notch. I had the best time here—plus, the staff totally nailed picking out the perfect glass of wine for me.
The charcuterie boards are a must-try, and I’m still thinking about that fire and ice ceviche—it’s seriously unreal (and coming from someone who recently visited Colombia, that’s saying something). When you think you’re finished, don’t skip the tres leches cake served in a coconut—it’s a sweet ending you won’t want to miss.
If you’re a brunch fan, you won’t be disappointed. It’s one of my go-to brunch restaurants in downtown St. Pete! The outdoor seating with a limited menu is a nice touch too, so you can sip wine and enjoy the St. Pete sunshine.
9. Copa
Copa deserves all the hype. Their menu is like a little love letter to Latin America and the Caribbean—think tapas with a tropical twist. Every bite is so good, but we especially loved their scallops and tostones!
For cocktails, their espresso martini was a moment. The presentation was stunning, the flavor was on point, and the fact that I got it half-off during happy hour? Even better!
They clearly know their way around espresso because when they opened Café Copa next door, I already knew it was going to be amazing—and of course, it delivered. Easily one of the best coffee spots in St. Pete!
10. Parkshore Grill
If you’ve been, you already know why it’s on this list of best downtown St. Pete restaurants. Anytime there’s a birthday, holiday, or date night in St. Pete, Parkshore Grill is high on the list for possible dinner spots. It’s right on Beach Drive, and sitting on the patio with a glass of wine just feels like a perfect night. Inside is great too, but something about the patio just hits different.
Their menu is contemporary American, and they always have fun specials. But if you like surf ‘n’ turf, you need to get The Parkshore. It comes with a filet and a lobster tail, and let me tell you, that lobster is next-level tender. The lemon caper butter sauce really just puts it over the edge.
One of my favorite things to do here is split The Parkshore with Remi. We’ll get an appetizer or a small salad to start, and then they’re always sweet enough to split the entrée for us, plating everything separately so it still feels like a full meal.
11. The Urban Stillhouse
Everything about The Urban Stillhouse is an experience. The atmosphere, the service, the food, the drinks—it’s all so good. Picture leather sofas, wood-burning fireplaces, a bourbon “library,” and an aroma that feels like Christmas at home. Cozy doesn’t even begin to describe it.
Definitely make a reservation because this place fills up. I’ve only been for brunch, but their dinner menu looks amazing too. For brunch, the bloody mary is a must (they even add a caffeine and B12 infusion if you need a little boost). Their fried chicken and homemade pickles? Unreal.
Even if you’re not a bourbon person, get a flight for the table just for the experience. The staff is super knowledgeable and will walk you through the best way to enjoy it. And if you can, take a little tour of the place—at the very least, go upstairs and check out “the library”!

12. The Library
The Library another one of my go-to brunch or lunch spots in St. Pete! The food is always beautifully presented, the coffee is so smooth you’ll lose track of how many cups you’ve had, and the whole space just has the dreamiest aesthetic.
The walls are lined with thousands of books, all in different shades of navy blue, and the seating is a mix of cozy English den-style chairs. It’s the kind of place you could sit in for hours and never want to leave.
The menu changes from time to time, but if you ever get the chance to try their sourdough French toast, do it. You’ll be thanking me later. This spot is perfect for a girls’ brunch, a casual breakfast date, or even a St. Pete bachelorette weekend.
Their sister location in Tampa, Oxford Exchange is equally as mesmerizing!
13. Red Mesa Cantina
Brunch, lunch, or dinner, Red Mesa Cantina is a vibe. It’s modern Mexican with a fun twist, and the courtyard is the move for a laid-back weekend brunch. They serve it up Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 AM to 3 PM, so if you’re craving huevos rancheros or chorizo-packed eggs, this is your spot.
The drink menu is just as much a reason to go as the food. They’ve got solid bloody marys, sangrias, and margaritas in every flavor you can think of. Can’t decide? Get the margarita sangria and call it a day!
14. Birch & Vine
Birch & Vine is one of those spots that feels a little fancy but in a way that makes you want to lean into it. It’s right inside The Canopy, so you’ve got a sleek, modern setup with a breezy patio—perfect for when you want a little bit of a treat-yourself moment.
The menu is New American with a focus on seasonal flavors, and everything I’ve tried has been something I’d go back for. The cocktail shrimp were fresh and flavorful, the pasta was chef’s kiss, and if you’re in the mood for steak, theirs is phenomenal (and do you see that truffle?!?)! The salmon is also a winner if you’re more of a seafood person.
15. Wild Child
Wild Child is one of those downtown St. Pete restaurants that’s effortlessly cool. The menu is packed with fresh, seasonal dishes with international flavors, and they don’t play around when it comes to cocktails.
Let’s talk food first. The Korean fried chicken sandwich is phenomenal. It’s got kimchi mayo and shredded cabbage, and if you get the rosemary fries with garlic aioli on the side, you’re doing it right. One of the most unexpected things I had here was their Caprese salad with strawberry and rhubarb—sounds different, but the flavors just work. And the tuna tostadas? Always a solid choice.
For cocktails, I always get the Lost Weekend. It’s got fresh watermelon, lime, and agave, and you get to pick your spirit. Mezcal is the move, trust me.
16. Beau & Mo’s
Beau & Mo’s blew me away the second I walked in. I was expecting your typical steakhouse vibe, but nope—jaw dropped. It’s dimly lit, super intimate, and honestly just sexy. If you need a spot for date night or an anniversary, this is it.
We started with the goat cheese bruschetta, and oh my god, it was amazing. Then, by pure luck, we were there on a Wednesday, which meant we got in on their insane dinner-for-two deal—$89 for two 6-oz filets, two wedge salads (we subbed the housemade creamy garlic dressing for blue cheese, and I highly recommend doing the same), shrimp scampi, green beans, and dessert cannolis.
We were stuffed, but when I see limoncello cake on an Italian restaurant menu, I have to get it. And this was, no joke, the best I’ve ever had—so light, so perfect, just an absolute dream of a dessert!
Oh, and before you leave? They’ve got a box of cigars for you to grab one if you want, plus a little outdoor area where you can actually enjoy it. Such a fun little touch!
17. Juno & The Peacock
You already know I had high expectations for Juno & The Peacock since it’s the sister restaurant to Allelo, and it delivered. New American Coastal Cuisine with a vibe that totally fits the Sunshine City. The outdoor patio is adorable, and I genuinely cannot walk past without snapping a pic. It’s just too good.
Let’s get into the important stuff—the food. I’ve been a few times now, and if I had to lock in my go-to order, it’s this: Wagyu beef carpaccio, Monica’s cornbread (because duh), and the California crunch salad to start. Then, without fail, I’m sharing the Dean & Peeler ribeye. That said, every seafood dish I’ve tried has also been so good, so you really can’t go wrong.
Also, they have one of my favorite espresso martinis in Tampa Bay, and you know I don’t say that lightly. If you somehow have room for dessert, do not skip the key lime tart—it’s such a fun twist on the Florida classic, and you’ll be thinking about it for days.
18. Rococo Steak
Rococo Steak takes the classic American steakhouse vibe and gives it a whole new energy. The ambiance is romantic, moody, and perfect for a special night out. You walk in, and it just feels like you’re about to have an incredible meal.
The service was amazing. Our server was so passionate about the menu, and honestly, their recommendations made the experience even better. We started with the crab fritter, and when I say it was packed with crab meat, I mean it. Then came the ribeye—flavorful, juicy, and that black pepper sauce with the mushrooms? Obsessed.
Now, were we stuffed? Absolutely. Did we still take home a slice of their honey lavender cheesecake? Also yes. And it was worth it. This spot is on the pricier side, so it’s definitely a special occasion kind of place, but if you’re looking for an unforgettable steakhouse experience in St. Pete, this is it!
19. Good Fortune
Good Fortune is such a vibe! It’s an Asian fusion spot in a basement, which is basically unheard of in Florida and automatically makes it cooler. The whole ambiance is just so good—think dim lighting, a canopy of flower blossoms over the bar, and on weekends, a DJ bringing the energy up even more!
Their sushi rolls? Love. Their cocktails? Obsessed. I literally have to get the Big Buddha every time. Oh, and if you’re in the mood for some fun, they even have karaoke rooms! Whether you’re looking for a cool dinner spot or a lively night out, this might just be one of the most fun restaurants in downtown St. Pete!
20. Nueva Cantina
If you’re looking for a fun, flavor-packed spot to hit up with the crew, check out Nueva Cantina! It seriously has some of the best Mexican food in St. Pete, and they make it so easy to share. Their birria pizza is absolutely insane in the best way. And don’t even get me started on their queso—it’s got the perfect little kick, and I could easily make a meal out of just that and a margarita pitcher if I’m being honest.
Speaking of margaritas, they always have a fun theme going on! Whether it’s Christmas, Galentine’s, St. Patrick’s Day—whatever—they go all in with decorations and themed menus. For Valentine’s, they had a margarita called the Baby Daddy that literally came with a little sonogram with a taco. Like, I cannot. Absolute iconic behavior.

Yumm!! All of these options look sooo good! I’ll definitely have to make some of these stops if I ever make my way down here!

OMG I wish we’d had more time in St Pete (we only had 1 night)! The Library looks absolutely dreamy – I love places for Sunday brunch and this looks like perfection.
So many restaurants and they all look delivering the best food. I will look for Limoncello cake now whenever I go to Italian Restaurant near where I live. The Volcano Roll at The Lure looks to die for.
These all look like incredible places to eat, and since it’s near dinner time for me you’re making me even hungrier!
