With its sunny beaches, warm weather, and endless activities, Florida has some amazing spring break destinations to check out! Having called Tampa Bay home since 2017, I’ve experienced many of these spots firsthand. From college spring breaks to my time living in the state, I’ve crafted the perfect list of Florida spring break destinations for every vibe and preference. Whether you’re looking to party with friends or just relax with family, I’ve got you covered!

Best Florida Spring Break Destinations

1. Clearwater Beach

Clearwater Beach offers sugar-white sands and sparkling waters of the Gulf of Mexico. This lively Florida spring break destination is perfect for water sports, fun nightlife, and lots of family-friendly activities. With its iconic Pier 60, amazing fresh seafood restaurants, lively beach bars, and endless sunshine, Clearwater Beach captures the coastal charm you won’t want to miss.

  • Pier 60 Sunset Festival – Enjoy nightly festivities, street performers, and stunning sunsets.

Where to Stay in Clearwater Beach

For smaller groups, check out Edge HotelPier House 60, and Springhill Suites by Marriott—each include breakfast with your stay. If you’re willing to splurge a bit, Hyatt RegencySandpearl, and Opal Sands are great resort options that elevate your experience.

For larger groups, consider renting a suite or home. We had an amazing stay at a spacious condo on Clearwater Beach that comfortably slept 7, and we loved it!

2. St. Pete Beach

Another stunning Gulf Coast beach! St. Pete Beach is a beach town with a mix of water activities, eclectic dining, and chill vibes. Whether you’re strolling along historic Corey Avenue or unwinding on the sand, St. Pete Beach has something for both family and college spring breakers.

  • The Don Cesar – An ICONIC beachfront hotel, famously known as the “Pink Palace.” With 2 heated pools, 3 lounges, newly renovated rooms, and the beautiful Spa Oceana, this is the spot for a magical and unforgettable experience. (Here is a recap from my stay at this hotel.)
  • TradeWinds – Another great option for a beachfront stay in St. Pete Beach. Perfect if you want to be right on the sand and enjoy resort amenities.
  • Postcard Inn (PCI) – For a true party and college spring break vibe, this is the place to be! With DJs, fun events, and a lively atmosphere, it’s also one of the best St. Pete Beach bars!
  • Hilton Garden Inn – A great option with a stunning pool and one of my favorite beachside bars and restaurants, Coconut Charlie’s. It’s a fun and relaxing spot for a casual, comfy stay.

3. Tampa

Tampa offers the perfect mix of culture, outdoor fun, and city life for spring breakers. With its historic districts like Ybor City, the scenic Tampa Riverwalk, and attractions like Busch Gardens, there’s no shortage of things to do in Tampa.

While Tampa is more of an urban vibe, nearby beaches and pool parties offer a nice balance. You can stay in one of the beach towns close by and still dive into all the exciting spring break activities in Tampa.

  • Boat Adventure – There are plenty of amazing boat tours in Tampa! For a more exclusive experience, book a Staying Afloat Party Boat with a captain—starting at $700 for 4 hours and fitting up to 12 people. Alternatively, enjoy a 2-hour downtown Tampa charter for $400.
  • WTR Pool PartyWTR is known for its high-energy pool parties. Dance to live DJ sets and soak up the sun! If you’re looking for even more fun, check out Whiskey Joe’s next door.
  • Busch Gardens – With its roller coasters, live shows, and wildlife exhibits, Busch Gardens offers non-stop fun for families or thrill seekers on spring break!
  • Explore Tampa’s Food Scene – Whether you’re into craft breweries, rooftop bars, or amazing restaurants, Tampa’s food scene has something for everyone. And you definitely don’t want to leave without trying a famous Cuban sandwich!

Where to Stay in Tampa

If you’re visiting for spring break, I’m assuming you’re going to want to be near the water. If you don’t stay in one of the nearby beach towns, The Godfrey Hotel, home to WTR, and The CURRENT Hotel are great choices.

Both offer stunning views of Tampa Bay and provide a laid-back waterfront vibe while still keeping you close to the city’s best attractions.

4. Miami

Miami is of course a top Florida spring break destination, famous for its lively nightlife, beach clubs, and the energetic vibe of South Beach. Whether you’re hitting the dance floors of trendy nightclubs or enjoying the sun on its iconic beaches, Miami is an iconic spring break destination if you’re looking for a party.

Beyond the nightlife, the city also offers a fun mix of activities, amazing restaurants, and culture.

  • South Beach – Relax on the sun-soaked sands of one of Miami’s most famous beaches.

While Key West is pretty small, it still manages to have hundreds of accommodation options. Thank goodness for this, because these places book up quickly! These are a few options that I have stayed at or stood out to me, but feel free to check out the full list here.

  • La Concha – This hotel has an outdoor pool, pool bar, and free parking. The rooms are modern and spacious, but the biggest perk is its prime location—right on Duval Street!
  • Douglas House – An adults-only inn with top-notch ratings. It’s just a 5-minute walk to the beach and a 2-minute stroll to the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum. Other perks include a shared outdoor pool, free parking, and a pet-friendly policy.
  • Andrews Inn and Garden Cottages – Nestled just off Duval Street, you get the bonus perks of an outdoor pool, free parking, and a complimentary hot breakfast. Plus, guests can enjoy a poolside happy hour!

6. Siesta Key

Siesta Key is famous for its unbelievably soft, white quartz sand and laid-back island vibe. While it’s a bit more relaxed than other Florida spring break destinations, there’s still plenty of fun to be had—think beachfront bars, water adventures, and stunning Gulf Coast sunsets. Whether you’re looking to unwind on the beach or enjoy a lively night out, Siesta Key offers the perfect mix of chill and excitement.

  • Siesta Key Kayak Tour – Paddle through mangroves and coastal waters on a guided 2-hour kayak or paddleboard tour. It’s a fun and active way to explore this Florida spring break destination while spotting wildlife along the way.

  • Point of Rocks – Snorkel around this unique geological formation and discover the marine life beneath the surface. Your best bet is to go early in the morning for the best water visibility and to snag a parking spot at Beach Access 12.
  • Explore Sarasota – Since you’re so close, take a quick trip to Sarasota and check out the beautiful Botanical Garden or The Ringling Museum. There are enough fun things to do in Sarasota you can spend a whole day here exploring.

  • Plan Ahead: Florida is a top spring break spot, so it’s a good idea to book your accommodations, flights, and activities ahead of time to make sure you get the best options.
  • Stay Hydrated: Florida can get really hot, so keep water on hand, especially if you’re spending the day at the beach or checking out outdoor attractions. This is my absolute favorite water bottle! (And no, it’s not a Stanley.)
