Fun Things You Must Do in Vegas

1. Experience the Resorts

Vegas is so wild because every single hotel truly feels like its own city. Each resort has its own unique offering. The Venetian has gondola rides, Paris has the Eiffel Tower, Caesar’s Palace has the Trevi Fountain, and The Bellagio has the fountain show and botanical gardens.

I mean really the list goes on and on. I’m convinced you could go to Vegas and not spend a dime on activities and just wander through all the hotels in amazement. I also recommend checking out the Chandelier Bar inside the Cosmopolitan as well! It’s such a stunning, unique bar— you truly feel like you’re inside a chandelier!

2. Go to a Speakeasy

The rise of speakeasies has made me so happy. It doesn’t matter where you’re staying in Vegas— chances are you’re going to be near at least one Vegas speakeasy. They’re pretty huge in Vegas. The Cosmopolitan has like five hidden bars and eateries just in it alone!

Sometimes they’re behind unassuming doors in busy locations, other times they’re in barbershops. Or maybe there’s a random shelf in a convenience store that is waiting to be pushed back to lead you to an escape with delightful craft cocktails!

3. Area15

Area15 is like stepping into a whole other world—an immersive, futuristic playground just a mile west of The Strip. This is easily one of the most fun things to do in Vegas because it’s so different from anything else! It’s packed with interactive exhibits, crazy cool shops, and experiences like VR, axe throwing, indoor golf, and so much more.

4. Meow Wolf

If you’re heading to Area15, you have to check out Omega Mart at Meow Wolf. It’s honestly hard to put into words—because it’s so much more than just an art exhibit. At first glance, it looks like a totally normal grocery store, but then you start noticing the bizarre off-brand products (like “Who Told You This Was Butter?” and “Nut-Free Salted Peanuts”), trippy aisle signs, and secret portals that transport you into an entirely different world.

It’s part interactive art, part immersive storytelling, and all weird in the best way. Think of it like a futuristic, mind-bending version of the City Museum in St. Louis. Plus, they sometimes have live DJs, making it even more of an experience!

Entry to Area15 is free, but you’ll need to reserve a time slot. Meow Wolf’s Omega Mart costs $45 for adults—and trust me, it’s worth every penny.

5. Museum of Illusions Las Vegas

While we’re on the topic of immersive playgrounds, no list of fun things to do in Las Vegas would be complete without the Museum of Illusions Las Vegas! This place is packed with mind-bending exhibits that will have you questioning reality in the most fun way possible.

From rooms that play with perspective to optical illusions that mess with your mind, enjoy a world where nothing is ever quite as it seems. And don’t think this spot is just for kids—it’s the perfect playground for adults too! The Museum of Illusions is a great rainy day activity or a fun escape from the ordinary.

You’ll leave with tons of photos and even more memories. Get ready to have your mind blown!

6. Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam Tour

If you want to skip the stress of planning and dive straight into the adventure, this Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam Tour from Las Vegas is it! You’ll check off some of Vegas’s most iconic spots like the Hoover Dam, Seven Magic Mountains, and the famous “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign. Plus, you’ll score VIP access to the Grand Canyon (hello, bucket list!), with surprise bonus stops along the way.

Did I mention they also keep you fueled with a light breakfast, snacks, and refreshments? It’s an all-day experience, but let’s be real—could you ask for a more epic day exploring Nevada?!

7. Experience Old Vegas and Fremont Street

Fremont Street is where vintage Vegas meets nonstop excitement. This pedestrian-only stretch is packed with neon lights, live entertainment, and a high-energy atmosphere that feels like a party every night. It’s got all the nostalgia of Old Vegas with a modern twist—full of dazzling light shows, classic casinos, and even free concerts at the Downtown Rocks series.

You’ll also find some of Vegas’ coolest attractions here, like the Mob Museum, the Neon Museum, and Atomic Liquors (which holds Vegas’ first-ever liquor license!). It’s less touristy than The Strip but just as fun, making it a must for your list of things to do in Las Vegas.

Check out this walking tour if you really want to get into the history.

8. Walk Down The Strip with a Drink in Hand

Yep, it’s legal to drink on the sidewalks of the Las Vegas Strip if you’re 21+, so take advantage of it! Pregaming with your own drinks can save you a ton of money before heading out for the night. (Just note that Fremont Street and Downtown have a few more restrictions on open containers.)

9. Touristy, but Unique Activities

Snap a pic at the Welcome to Vegas sign, ride the High Roller or Big Apple Coaster, explore The LINQ Promenade, or take in the views from the Eiffel Tower deck. If you’re planning to hit multiple attractions, the Vegas City Pass can save you money!

10. Get Out in Nature

Want a break from the neon lights? Hoover Dam and Valley of Fire are both less than an hour away, while Red Rock Canyon and Seven Magic Mountains are just a quick 30-minute drive.

We only had our rental car for part of the trip, so we stuck to Red Rock and Seven Magic Mountains—both totally worth it! If you don’t have a car, this tour provides transportation to Hoover Dam.

11. See a Show

Magic, music, comedy, or, uh, seductive male dancing—Vegas has a show for everyone. Check out your options here and grab tickets to something that sounds fun!

12. Try Your Luck

You don’t have to go all in, but it’s fun to at least play a little while you’re here! Whether it’s slots or table games, you can even find ways to gamble for free with casino promotions. Check out these money-saving tips for Vegas!

13. Take a Different Type of Risk

Skydiving in Vegas? Why not?! (You can even snag a discount for it here!) If that’s too much, you can also try dune buggies, ziplining, helicopter rides, or ATVing.

14. Pool Parties

Miami pool parties are great, but Vegas pool parties? Next level. Think massive crowds, top DJs, and an unreal atmosphere. Ayu Dayclub and Encore Beach Club are my favorites, but here’s a full list of the best ones! Just keep in mind, they’re seasonal.

15. Night Clubs

Vegas clubs are insane—gorgeous venues, huge crowds, and major DJs as residents. If you’re trying to save money, look for a Las Vegas promoter—girls usually get in free, and guys can score big discounts.

We found ours just by walking around during the day, but servers and bartenders can also be great sources for connections!

Where to Stay in Vegas

Vegas has no shortage of incredible hotels, whether you’re looking for luxury, party vibes, or something budget-friendly. Check out this Booking widget to find the hotel that best fits your needs! I love Booking.com because most places offer free cancellation, and they guarantee the lowest price.

For my friend’s 30th, we stayed at Flamingo Las Vegas, and it was perfect! The rooms were spacious, the pools were massive, the location was amazing, and best of all—everything was pink! It was such a fun spot to be in the middle of all the action.
