If you share my passion for secret watering holes and covert cocktail lounges, you’re in for a treat! I’ve never been good at keeping a secret, so I’m here to spill the best speakeasies in Tampa you aren’t going to want to miss checking out.

Speakeasies have a charm and allure that’s perfect for a romantic date night or an evening of revelry with friends. While they may have once been elusive, these hidden gems are now sprinkled throughout Tampa Bay, waiting to be discovered by those in the know. So let’s dive in!

Speakeasies in Tampa

1. Madame Fortune Dessert + HiFi Parlour

Madame Fortune Dessert + HiFi Parlour is one of Ybor City’s hidden gems, literally! Tucked inside Roast on 7th, this Tampa speakeasy brings a mix of mystery and style that’s worth seeking out.

The food here is next-level. Their lemon pepper honey turkey flats are packed with flavor, and the lemon blueberry icebox cake? Total perfection. Since the same team behind 7th + Grove (one of the best Ybor City restaurants) runs this spot, you know the food is going to be amazing!

And let’s talk about the cocktails—just as impressive as the food. Follow their Instagram for the weekly password to get in!

While you’re in the area, why not keep the fun going? Check out some of the incredible breweries in Ybor, explore more of the vibrant Ybor bar scene, or swing by Gasparilla Distillery—easily one of the best distilleries in Tampa! Cheers to making a night of it!

2. Morgan’s Cove

Morgan’s Cove in Tampa invites you into a pirate-inspired world filled with rum, whiskey, and swashbuckling adventure! Hidden behind a wooden door with a red light, this speakeasy channels the spirit of 17th-century pirates like Henry Morgan.

Whether you’re a fan of Tampa’s Gasparilla Festival or simply seeking a unique atmosphere, you’ll love this tavern. It’s walk-in only, so come ready for a night of tales, strong drinks, and the chance to mingle with fellow adventurers. Don’t miss out on the fun—arrive early to snag a spot in this lively pirate haven!

3. Jekyll

Have you checked out Tampa’s newest speakeasy hotspot, Jekyll? Nestled in Hyde Park, it’s already making waves as one of the coolest things to do in the area. Getting in is part of the fun—just make a sneaky bagel order at Sesame (yes, really!) and have your reservation ready.

Once inside, you’ll find yourself flipping through a cocktail menu that’s more like a storybook. Each drink is beautifully crafted and brimming with creativity, making it as much about the experience as the flavors. Expect bold presentations and some seriously inventive sips.

Drinks here do run on the pricier side at $30 each, and while I’ve personally preferred the cocktails at a few other speakeasies in town, Jekyll is still an experience worth having. It’s perfect for anyone who loves a good drink and a little adventure!

4. The Saint

The Saint speakeasy in St. Pete is an absolute masterpiece of thematic immersion. The owners have spared no detail in creating an ambiance that perfectly captures the essence of its sinners and saints motif.

From the confessional-style entrance to the meticulously curated menu, artwork, lighting, glassware, and even the uniforms, every aspect of The Saint is meticulously on-brand.

As one of the most unique speakeasies in Tampa Bay, The Saint has truly earned its place among the best bars in St Pete. Your visit begins with a twist—confessing the week’s “sin” to gain entry. Inside, you’ll find an artfully crafted drink menu inspired by the Seven Deadly Sins. Each cocktail—whether it’s Lust, Gluttony, or Sloth—is not only delicious but presented with flair, making your experience here even more unforgettable.

Don’t miss their heavenly happy hour from Tuesday to Friday, 5-7 PM. It’s the perfect excuse to explore this divine St. Pete gem!

5. Dirty Laundry

Don’t tell the others, but Dirty Laundry might just be my favorite speakeasy in Tampa Bay! By day, it’s a trendy laundromat (don’t worry, it’s not actually functioning) serving up irresistible pastries and coffee, but by night, it transforms into a lively, Havana-inspired cocktail lounge.

The vibe here is unmatched—think bold neon signs, vibrant decor, and an immersive atmosphere that transports you straight to Cuba. Their cocktail menu features eight expertly crafted, Cuban-inspired drinks, each one more delightful than the last. Plus, the live music or DJ always brings the energy, making it a perfect night out.

Sundays here are extra special with their burlesque shows, making Dirty Laundry a top pick for birthday celebrations or bachelorette parties! (Definitely add St. Pete to your list of best Florida destinations for a bach party if you haven’t already!)

6. Bar Chica

Quality spirits and fresh ingredients are a focus at Bar Chica, and it shows. The cocktail menu here is rum-heavy, but you can certainly find other options. They even had an option with mezcal, my current obsession!

Getting to Bar Chica feels like a little adventure. Head to Bodega in downtown St. Pete, make your way to the back, and keep an eye out for an unassuming sliding door near the restrooms. Give it a slide, and voilà—you’ve discovered Bar Chica!

This hidden gem is probably the most intimate speakeasy on the list, with room for about 20 people and just four bar seats. It’s small, yes, but the cozy ambiance makes it perfect for a relaxed, personal experience.

7. CW’s Gin Joint

For a sophisticated night out in downtown Tampa, CW’s Gin Joint is a must-visit. This chic bar channels a Prohibition-era vibe with its elegant decor, live jazz music, and, of course, an impressive gin-centric cocktail menu. While gin is the star, the mixologists here craft a variety of creative drinks to suit any palate.

Pair your cocktails with small plates or indulge in their full dinner menu, featuring elevated American dishes. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in downtown Tampa! Along with great cocktails and food they also often have live jazz music providing a complete experience.

8. Mandarin Hide

If you’re on the hunt for the best espresso martinis in St. Pete, look no further than Mandarin Hide. Known for its expertly crafted espresso martinis, this speakeasy-style bar is a local favorite. But don’t worry if espresso martinis aren’t your thing—the talented bartenders here can whip up a custom drink just for you!

With an impressive selection of over 450 spirits, including rare and limited-edition bourbons, whiskeys, and scotches, Mandarin Hide has something for every cocktail lover. Plus, their sister location, Mandarin Heights in Seminole Heights, offers a completely different yet equally enjoyable vibe!

9. Repeal 18

If you’re looking for a fun spot in Westchase, Repeal 18 is a must-visit! This handcrafted cocktail lounge serves up delicious craft cocktails in a laid-back atmosphere. But what sets it apart is the addition of free bar games like pool and darts.

Whether you’re enjoying a perfectly mixed drink or challenging your friends to a game, it’s the perfect place to unwind and have a good time. Craft cocktails and games? Yes, please!

10. The Nest at Cara Cara

The Nest has an amazing lounge area that gives off speakeasy vibes. It’s cozy and inviting, making it perfect for relaxing with friends over a drink. Plus, their drink presentations are on point— a feast for both the eyes and taste buds!

If you’re hungry, make sure to head over to Cara Cara next door for some seriously good food. It’s easily one of the best restaurants in Dunedin!

11. Sonder Social Club

Also located in Dunedin, Sonder Social Club oozes charm with its cozy, dimly lit atmosphere and shelves lined with liquor, complete with a sliding ladder straight out of a library.

One of my favorite details? The speakeasy-style bathrooms, hidden behind bookshelves— such a fun surprise! Their craft cocktail menu is stellar, but if nothing catches your eye, just share your cravings with the bartender, and they’ll craft a personalized drink just for you.

12. Gigglewaters

If you’re looking for a fun day trip from Tampa, explore Safety Harbor! Gigglewaters is one of the best things to do in Safety Harbor, and I promise it’ll impress you! This charming spot offers a unique experience with a blend of delicious food, craft cocktails, and movie screenings.

Be sure to check out their upcoming screenings and plan your visit for an unforgettable time!
