Bean Point is one of the most peaceful, untouched spots on Anna Maria Island. It’s tucked away at the very northern tip, and honestly, it feels like your own little slice of paradise. No big crowds, just soft sand, gorgeous water, and the most unreal sunsets.
The vibe here is super quiet and natural—think rolling dunes, sea oats, and maybe even some dolphins playing in the distance if you’re lucky.
Heads up—there’s no designated parking, so the best way to get there is by bike or walking. But trust me, it’s so worth the extra effort!
2. Go Shopping on Pine Avenue
Pine Avenue is the cutest little shopping street ever, and I swear, every time I walk down it, I want to buy everything in sight. It’s lined with adorable boutiques, art galleries, and beachy home decor shops—basically, the perfect place to find a unique souvenir or something to remind you of AMI.
You’ll find everything from stylish resort wear to handmade jewelry and even some coastal-inspired goodies that will make you want to redecorate your entire house.
And since shopping obviously works up an appetite, there are plenty of cute cafes and spots to grab a bite in between browsing. A little shopping, a little iced coffee, and a whole lot of island charm—what more could you need?

One of the best things to do on Anna Maria Island (and anywhere with water really) is a boat day! This private half-day boat charter is the ultimate way to soak up the AMI vibes. The best part is it’s just for your group, so you can fully customize the experience.
Cruise around the island, spot dolphins, and anchor at a sandbar to float, swim, and sip on a drink (yes, snacks and drinks—including alcohol—are included). Whether you want to just chill in the sun or explore hidden little beach spots, this boat day is a total dream.
4. Leffis Key Preserve
If you’re in the mood for a peaceful nature moment, Leffis Key Preserve is where it’s at. This little slice of paradise on the southern tip of AMI is full of mangroves, boardwalk trails, and some of the best views of Sarasota Bay.

Okay, don’t panic—this isn’t the kind of doctor’s appointment you want to avoid. The Doctor’s Office on AMI is actually a cozy, dimly lit cocktail bar and restaurant that serves up some of the best craft drinks and elevated eats on the island.
The vibe is so cool, and they even greet you with a welcome shot when you walk in! Their menu is stacked with amazing dishes like the Anna Marribbean Grouper (coconut and cashew encrusted perfection) and the Port-Braised Prime American Short Rib. Everything here is made with intention, and you can taste the difference.
12. Eat at Some of the Top Restaurants
Let’s be real—one of the best things to do on Anna Maria Island is eat. The food scene here is next level, especially if you love fresh seafood and scratch-made dishes.
Aside from The Doctor’s Office, two restaurants on Anna Maria Island I’ll never stop recommending are The Waterfront Restaurant and The Porch. The Waterfront is an AMI classic—we literally can’t visit without stopping here. And The Porch has that old Florida charm with an upscale twist, and the food is perfection.
13. Coquina Baywalk
Coquina Baywalk is located on the south end of Anna Maria Island and has 1.5 miles of paved pathways and boardwalks that wind through a gorgeous bayou. It’s perfect for a slow stroll, spotting some wildlife, or just soaking up the peaceful vibes.

Check out Ca’ d’Zan, the jaw-dropping mansion that once belonged to John and Mable Ringling—it’s like stepping into another world with its stunning architecture and waterfront views.
You can also wander through The Ringling with its art and circus museums and gorgeous gardens. And if you’re into shopping and dining, St. Armands Circle has a bunch of cute boutiques and yummy eats. Sarasota’s got a mix of culture, history, and chill vibes, making it a fun getaway from the island!

For a quirky, laid-back ride, hop on the Monkey Bus. It’s colorful and full of character, and it runs from 12 PM to 3 AM every day. You can schedule a ride by calling 941-565-6542, and it’s “rides for tips,” so there’s no official charge.
If you’re looking for a free and easy option, the Island Trolley is another great choice that I love using when I’m on AMI.
Of course, if you’re looking to explore more outside of AMI, like venturing over to Sarasota or even Tampa, you will most definitely want to get a rental car (at least for the days you’re venturing).
